Artist's Comments

58"X58" acrylic and burlap.

this is an abstract work that is inspired by illumination. this kind of illumination can be of any sort that begins to fill a dark space; I think of Caravaggio's holistic light that has no direct source but instead seems to eminate from a spiritual realm. this source in my own work may be from the viewer, it may be from myself, or it may be from the universe itself, as from starlight.

indeed, a luminous flux incident is the rate at which light energy flows from the source , ethereal and only remotely tangeable yet having no limitations. without light, which pervades every part of the known universe, our lives would be indescribably different.

for me, these paintings are a philosophical approach to the subject of light, which for me is a kind of meditation. physically, the works are a process of repetition, which is also meditative and reflective of the nature of light which exists in layers that we identify as the colour spectrum.

for you, the viewer, they perhaps will bring forth a kind of stillness and reflection of your own kind.

i love this, along with the concept. i know exactly the type of light you're talking about- and i've never really figured it out. then again, i don't think i WANT to figure it out.. it might take away from the beauty of it. well done- great expression.
